Bob Dunlop - President
Bob Dunlop graduated in 1976 from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Mechanical Engineering). He was designated by Professional Engineers of Ontario as a Professional Engineer in 1978 and as a Consulting Engineer in 1985.
Bob formed Carson, Dunlop & Associates Ltd. in 1978 with Alan Carson. Together, their years of pioneering inspection and promotion work has made Carson, Dunlop & Associates Ltd. one of the oldest and largest private-sector home inspection companies in Canada.
Bob Dunlop co-authored a book with Alan Carson entitled "Inspecting a House - A Guide for Buyers, Owners & Renovators", published in 1982, and reprinted several times since. The book has been used as an official course text for the Appraisal Institute.
Bob Dunlop was the first Canadian member of American Society of Home Inspectors and instrumental in founding the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors. He co-authored "The Home Reference Book", a comprehensive reference manual and report writing system for resale housing, now used by other firms across Canada and in the United States.
Bob co-authored the real estate licensing course material on construction, for the Ontario Real Estate Association and the University of British Columbia. He designed the course and material for the Construction/Cost Estimating Course for the Canadian Real Estate Association's Market Value Appraiser designation for Realtors.
Bob was approached to revise and update the Training in Housing Rehabilitation Skills course for Canada Housing and Mortgage Corporation as part of their Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program.
Bob Dunlop created and taught the Targeted Inspection Program Workshops for the Ontario New Home Warranty Program (ONHWP), now known as TARION.
In 1991, Bob Dunlop was a recipient of the Stephen Greenford Award for dedication to the advancement of the Home Inspection Profession in Canada. Bob is also a recipient of the Educational Merit Award in recognition of outstanding contribution to the advancement of Real Estate Education in the Province of Ontario.
In December 2003, Bob was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Council of Ontario. The board consists of nine elected representatives from the real estate industry and three ministerial appointees. Bob was appointed by Jim Watson, Minister of Consumer and Business Services.
"RECO" was formed in 1997 to administer the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act on behalf of the Ontario government. All registered real estate brokers and salespersons are governed by this Act. RECO's mandate is to protect consumers through a fair, safe and informed marketplace. In addition to administering the Act, RECO has its own By-laws, which allow it to provide more effective governance of the real estate profession.
